An Unlikely Visitor

You aren't serious.  You can't be serious...

Hi!  It's me, Tux again.  Can you hang on for just a second?  I need to speak with Foster Mom for a second...
No.  Absolutely not.  I'm putting my paw down on this one.
I wore the green hat.  I've worn scarves and sweaters
I will NOT wear bunny ears.

A treat?

How good of a treat are we talking here, Foster Mom?
Really?  Well, in that case...

Hi again!!  It's been explained to me that this Easter Bunny fellow is not for chasing - instead, he evidently brings yummy treats to good puppers all over the world.  (I'd love for someone to explain how he doesn't get eaten by sharks hopping through the ocean, but I digress.)  That's a pretty generous rabbit bringing stuff for retired greyhounds, when you think about it.

And for super awesome, sweet, loving, Tuxedo hounds who wear goofy rabbit ears?  Extra.  Special.  Amazing.  Treats.  'Nuff said.

Please save me.

Hey - can we take a minute and review things I'm good at?  Things you might be looking for in your next dog?  Hmmm?  Shall we?
  • I'm incredibly handsome - imagine walking down the street with this incredibly good looking pup on the other end of the leash, huh?  Good stuff!
  • I'm a black greyhound - which means I have a personality all my own.  Any long-legged needlenose can be just a "greyhound", but I belong to the special club of sleek, dark, awesomeness!
  • I LOVE PEOPLE!  I cannot wait to find my Forever Family so that I can love them to pieces!  Do you have extra ear scritches you'd like to give me?  Perhaps some cuddle time?  I'm your guy :-)
  • I get along with other dogs - big dogs, that weird little fluffy Jackson dog I'm currently living with... and everything in between.
  • I put up with hats, scarves, bunny ears, and all the rest.  I'm sure I'll be decked out like Abraham Lincoln at some point soon...
Meh, maybe they aren't so bad.  That pretty basket did have Milkbones in it.

What do I need from my new Forever Family?  Flexibility, mostly.  Do you remember my last post about meeting Dr. Couto?  I am perfectly healthy, but get a little nervous sometimes.  I am looking for a Forever Family who will help me with my confidence - and not be bothered by me needing to take a little bit of medication.  And be ready to help me out if I get a little flustered once in a while.

Is that you?  Is your family loving and kind and patient?  And in need of a super-duper, awesome Tux to come and fulfill your household?

Okay - I have to go now.  I need to go sniff and see if he hid anymore egg shaped dog treats around that I missed.  You know how to reach me - just contact the great people at GEGR!!!

The Polite Gentleman!

It's me, Tux!  How are ya?

Oh, Hi!! How are you?  Me?  I'm super great!

I thought it might be time for an awesome pupdate about me.  You know I'm always dressed in my evening best, right?  White front with black coat and tail?  Foster Mommy and I have been working at getting some good video together for you to see what a polite gentleman I am.

These guys are my role models - a dog has to have role models, right?

Polite man in a Tux
Lurch was always sweet... and so was Alfred

Very polite man in Tux
So check out these great clips of me being a polite guy in a Tux.  Or being a polite Tux guy.  Or something...

Here's me being polite in the car:

And then there's me being polite with Popcorn.  How many people or dogs do you know that can resist a whole bowl of yummy popcorn??

You can tell I'm a seriously stressed out dog around the house, right?  Whew, that was a close one!

Then there's me resisting my penchant for cheese... Could you resist that yummy looking lunch?

Hey - do you remember when we talked about me getting compliments from somebody famous?  Well I did!  Can you believe it??

If you are familiar with the greyhound world, you've probably heard of Dr. Guillermo Couto - he's been at the leading edge of both greyhound health and canine cancer research for years.  And let me bark, all us puppers sure do appreciate his incredible efforts.  But guess what?  I got to meet him!!

See, I wasn't feeling quite right.  Just worried all the time.  Tense.  You know what I mean?  We've all felt that way sometimes, I think.  I was drinking a lot of water - and we all know what happens when you have that extra cup of coffee in the morning and then get in the car to go to work, right?  Yup, I had to go a lot, too.

The awesome people at Greyt Expectations wondered if there might be something physical causing my stress (they asked, but we struggle at verbal communication), so they made me an appointment with Dr. Couto!  He looked me over and we talked about stuff, he asked me about my relationship with my mother... (LOL, just seeing if you're paying attention!).

His diagnosis?  I'm physically fit as a fiddle.  Healthy as an ox.  Then, the most famous Doctor in all the greyhound universe said - that I was one super good looking puppy dog!  Can you believe it?  Moi?  It is a memory that will live with me forever.

Well, let's be honest - at least until someone offers me cheese.  I love cheese.  I forget about things for cheese.  Who are you again?

Right, more about that later - let's get back to one last video clip!

Here's the last clip for today!  It's me being polite with other doggies.  I am more than happy to share my big comfy bed with that silly Jackson.  They keep telling me he's a dog like me, but I am forced to take their word for it...

You know the drill - please like and share this post with all your friends.  And tell them I'm looking for a caring family where I can let my sweetness and snuggle and awesome Tux-ness shine!

If you are interested in learning more about me, just drop the awesome people at Greyt Expectations Greyhound Rescue a line and tell them you want to hear more about Tux!

A Happy St Patrick's Day to ya!!

Does the green set off my eyes??

Well, hallo there!!  It's me, Tux, wishing you a super Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

As you might have noticed, I not only dressed up in my best black coat and tails for the occasion - but I also decided to spread a little Irish Cheer with a cool hat.

You have to bark - I'm cute in the hat.

I might have to just wear this all the time.  I need a good hat to go with my tux!

And I mean SERIOUSLY CUTE in the hat ;-)

What's the best thing about a fun holiday like this?  Spending time with friends and family, right?
Am I right?

This is how me and all my houndie friends and Foster Family are spending it!

We're a bunch of festive fools, huh?

I've heard all sorts of stuff about the luck of the Irish, and if you catch a Leprechaun you get a wish granted or something...  The cute little dog counts as a Leprechaun, doesn't he?  He's small and barks funny and has a silly gleam in his eye.  Works for me.

My wish?

The perfect family who is patient with sweet and loving ways (and a couple of quirks ;-)

I just know they're out there somewhere...

All this partying has worn this puppy out...

Have you seen them??  Are they you?  That would be pawsome.

So go have a pint of whatever makes your toes tap and I'll see you soon, okay?

Friday the 13th?!?!? EEEeeek!!

Snow!  Ackkkk!!!
Hi!  Did I get your attention with that picture of me in the snow??  I thought so!

It's your old pal, Tux, here - and since it's Friday the 13th (ch-ch-ch... hha-hha-hha...), I thought we could talk about things that scare all of us.  Fun topic right?  Let's start!

After this winter, I think we're all just a little bit terrified of the concept of any more snow.  Don't get me wrong, I love the snow (just check out some of my video clips where I'm running around in it).  But it really has gotten old.  Let's hope no more comes our way.

Let's see... what else scares the bejeebers out of your buddy Tux?  Well, there's this:

Do these colors compliment my formal attire??
I'm afraid I might just be too cute.  Is that a real fear?  I love the attention.  And having warm ears.

...But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.
Is there one of those cool phobia names for being afraid of being adorable?

Do things ever just spook you?  You know, just make you go a little wacky??  Like this?

Well, who decides what normal is, right?

So, inquiring hounds want to know:  What frightens you??

Hey look - I've been awake for many minutes.  In a row.  That makes it naptime for this puppy, so I have to go now.  But I'll leave you with a cool puppy picture and a tantalizing tidbit for later!

It was my Birthday!!  CAKE!!
I've got some important information to pass along to you about my awesome-ness.  But *Yawwn*, it's going to have to wait until after my nap.  It involves one of the most famous people involved with Greyhounds talking about how awesome I am - and some other stuff.

So stay tuned, Tux fans - don't touch that dial!

I'll talk to you soon, okay?

Tux

Oh boy, snow boy!

See Tux run. Run Tux run.

See Tux fetch. Fetch Tux Fetch.

He is a snuggle bug.

Wherever you are is where Tux wants to be. He left all the dog beds to lie at my feet.
